NYC’S 10 Best of the San Gennaro Festival in Little Italy Week One
The Feast of San Gennaro is a celebration of faith that lasts for 11 days, from September 16th to September 26th, in Little Italy, Manhattan. This is the largest outdoor religious festival in NYC and the country. Events include parades, musical performances (folk songs, pop, rock), ethnic foods, and the world famous Cannoli eating competition. Over 300 vendors and 35 restaurants participating.
All entertainment and musical performances are on the Feast Performance Stage, located at the intersection of Grand and Mott Streets in Little Italy.
Thursday, September 16
2:00 pm to 3:00 pm – Cannoli Eating Competition. See the crowning of the World’s Champion Cannoli Eater.
6:00 pm to 7:00 pm – Blessing of the Stands. Father Fabian Grifone and other priests walk among the streets to bless the patrons and shops for a successful festival.
7:30 pm to 8:00 pm – Doo Wop Concert with Vinny Vella of “The Sopranos” TV show and Johnny T.
8:15 pm to 9:00 pm – Johnny Mandolin performs songs from his new album, La Voce Mia.
9:00 pm to 10:00 pm – Opera/jazz singer Marie Anello with Ernie Rossi.
Friday, September 17
3:00 pm to 7:00 pm – NOW 92.3 FM hosts the Weekly Rollout with TikTak.
7:30 pm to 9:30 pm – Performance from rock n roll band Nostalgia.
Saturday, September 18
2:00 pm to 3:00 pm – Italian American singer Jimmy Alleva.
7:00 pm to 10:00 pm – WCBS FM 101.1 broadcast with Joe Causi.
Sunday, September 19 (The Official Feast Day)
2:00 pm – Celebratory High Mass in honor of San Gennaro with Father Fabian Grifone of Most Precious Blood Church.
3:00 pm – Religious Procession. The Statue of Gennaro is paraded through the streets.
7:00 pm – 9:30 pm – Sound Affair.
