8:00 pm (doors open): Questlove Performs at Good UnitsHudson Hotel, 356 W 58th Street, between 8th & 9th Avenues.  Questlove, the drummer and co-founder of Philidelphia band The Roots, performs with special guest Yameen Allworld.  The Roots is currently the house band of NBC’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.  21 and up only.  Free event, must RSVP.

Thursday, October 28

8:00 pm:  Petty Fest 2010The Bowery Ballroom, 6 Delancey Street, between Bowery and Chrystie Street.  A celebration of Tom Petty’s 60th birthday.  Party with special guests Adam Green, Norah Jones, Will Forte, Jason Sudeikis. Nicole Atkins, Nikolai, and more.  Tickets $20.

8:30pm:  White Light Festival: The Soul’s Messenger with Meredith Monk and Vocal Ensemble in Concert.  A fall festival at Lincoln Center (10 Lincoln Center Plaza, Upper West Side) from October 28 to November 18 with 21 performances over 22 days.  The theme of this festival is “music’s unique emotional capacity to move us beyond ourselves and illuminate our larger interior universe.” according to Jane Moss, Vice President for Programming at Lincoln Center. Performance around 75 minutes long.  Free kickoff event.
