5. Macy’s Flower Show. Macy’s Herald Square, 151 West 34th Street. March 28th till Sunday, April 11th. A lavish celebration of spring, Macy’s Herald Square is transformed into a garden of over 30,000 exotic flowers and trees, in addition to a hot air balloon decorated with spring flowers. 4. Earth Day. Earth Day is April 22nd. There are many green celebrations and actions in New York City from April 17th through the 25th. One being, on April 23rd and 24th, a two-day festival of art, music and the environment occurring on Vanderbilt Avenue (West side of the Grand Central terminal). The festival will highlight green businesses, organic food and education to make a positive change to make your daily lives greener. 3. Passover. This year, the Jewish holiday Passover occurs on the week of March 30-April 6. Passover commemorates the biblical event of Hebrews’ escape from enslavement in Egypt. The Jewish Center of New York is holding daily services and educational classes. The Jewish Center, 131 W. 86 Street, Upper West Side.
2. Easter Parade. Fifth Avenue from 49th Street to 57th Street. The New York City Easter Parade celebrates Easter with a walking parade of elaborate costumes and bonnets. There are no floats at this parade. This free event is fun for all ages and begins on Sunday, April 4th at 10 am. 1. Tribeca Film Festival. Tribeca Cinemas, 54 Varick Street, TriBeCa. April 21 – May 2. The annual Tribeca Film Festival attracts celebrities and new artists. See up and coming filmmakers premiere their indie films. A celebration of film, music and culture founded by Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff after the 9/11 attack.
