9.  The Other Room. 143 Perry Street, West Village. Who needs lights?  Not The Other Room.  A dark, sexy, intimate spot with a well chosen wine and beer selection (no hard alcohol).  You will come across cool people at this popular destination with great music.  Note: this is a cash only place.
