4. Sycamore. 1118 Cortelyou Road, Brooklyn. This Ditmas Park, Brooklyn bar has shelves lined with Whiskey bottles. A pleasant, beautiful wood-paneled bar with great outdoor seating and live bands in the basement on selected nights. Our top Brooklyn pick with an impressive whiskey selection. Gets crowded on the weekends.

2. d.b.a. 41 1st Avenue, East Village. A standard, cool, secret bar with dim lighting and fantastic drinks will make you come back again and again. 1. Bill’s Gay Nineties. 57 E 54th Street, Midtown East. An old-fashioned, 1920s speakeasy turned into a New York bar and restaurant. Bill’s was one of New York’s most prominent speakeasies in it’s time, and today you can still catch a meal, your choice of hard liquor and live music, including a piano bar and live jazz.
