5. Blossom Vegan Restaurant. 187 9th Ave; Chelsea. With food so good that you don’t even know you’re eating vegetarian and presentation so beautiful, you will find yourself returning to this warm, candle-lite restaurant.  Prices are slightly higher, but it is definitely worth it.

4. Kajitsu. 414 E. 9th Street; East Village. Kajitsu Serves Shojin cuisine, an ancient Japanese cuisine developed in Buddhist monasteries.  The Shojin cuisine includes fresh vegetables, legumes, herbs, seeds, grains and do not use meat or fish.  This high-quality, impeccable restaurant has become a popular and pleasurable destination among many.

3. Candle Cafe. 1307 3rd Avenue; Upper East Side. Just a few blocks away from their sister restaurant, Candle 79, The Candle Cafe is more casual and for a fraction of the price.  The place is tight and popular, especially for lunch, but nonetheless, the food excellent.

2. Candle 79. 154 E 79th Street; Upper East Side. Candle 79 has a formal, romantic setting with delicious vegan and vegetarian entrees.  Great ingredients and beautiful presentation make their meals one of the most sought after, but it comes at a price.  Save room for their outstanding desserts.

1. Pure Food and Wine. 54 Irving Place; Flatiron, Union Square, Gramercy. This Gramercy Park restaurant has one of the most popular raw vegan menus in New York City.  Featured in Forbes and New York Magazine, it’s menu is entirely plant based and uses no processed ingredients.  With exquisite presentations, gourmet meals and great setting, Pure Food and Wine is at the top our NYC vegetarian list.  During a nice day, eat outside and enjoy the garden.
