Shorties, aka Tony Luke’s. 576 9th Avenue, Theater District, Hell’s Kitchen.  The roasted pork is really good along with many of their Philly style sandwiches, but I still prefer the good ole’ cheesesteak with whiz and mushrooms.  Grab a 12″ long sub or 6″ shorty size.  Yuengling beer battered onions rings are tasty.

99 Miles to Philly.  94 3rd Avenue, East Village.  Greasy and made with cheese whiz like it should be. Do not forget the grilled onions.  To fully clog the arteries order it with chili cheese fries.  Bring a friend to help you eat the large sums and cut back on calories.  99 Miles to Philly also offer vegetarian and chicken cheesesteak sandwiches.  They deliver.

NYC’s 10 Best Pastrami Sandwiches

Katz Deli. 205 E Houston Street, Lower East Side.  Katz is famous for their NY pastrami and corned beef sandwiches but their hot dogs and cheese steaks are some of the best in Manhattan too.  They use two types of cheese on each cheese steak, American and another white cheese of their choice.  Huge sandwiches and literally a bag of fries.  Always the shortest wait for any counter in Katz Deli, the counter on far right, when in a rush.  Grab a beer while you wait.  Avoid on the weekends if possible because this place gets packed.  See: New York City’s 10 Best Pastrami Sandwiches.

Carl’s Steaks. 507 Third Avenue, Murray Hill.  Carl’s Steak sandwiches are the version of a true Philly steak.  Some say it’s all in the roll, and Carl’s rolls are made fresh daily to perfection.  The NY Post also said Carl’s Steaks are “Better here than in Philadelphia.”  Try the cheese steak, chicken, pizza or the works sandwiches with Carl’s Chili.  You can also skip the roll and grab the low carb cheese steak platter.  Carl’s will not disappoint.
