NYC’s 10 Best Midtown Burger Joints
Shake Shack. Midtown location: 691 8th Avenue. Also have locations in Upper West Side, Upper East Side, and Madison Park in the Flatiron District. California style burger stand. The original burger joint in NYC that helped start a burger craze. Their specialty is their ShackBurgers that is with ShackSauce. Malted chocolate milk shakes are excellent.
Zaitzeff. Midtown location: 711 2nd Avenue, between 38th & 39th Streets, Murray Hill, Midtown East. Offer grass fed sirloin, Kobe, sliders, turkey, and veggie burgers. Cook their fries in cast iron skillets and serve the burgers on a Portuguese muffin. Will deliver.
Ted’s Montana Grill. 110 W 51st Street, the Time Life Building, between 8th Avenue & Broadway. Fresh beef and bison burgers from Ted Turner’s range. A huge burger list to satisfy any burger fan. Even veggie burgers for you vegetarians. The best bison burger in New York City, this place is a higher end burger joint with beef burgers around $12 to $16 and bison burgers $15 to $19. All burgers come with fries.
Blue 9 Burger. Midtown location: 789 9th Avenue, between 52nd and 53rd Street, Midtown West. For my money this is one of the best burgers around Manhattan. Thousand island dressing is used on the Blue 9 burger, similar to the famous In-n-Out burger restaurant chain in California.
Carnegie John’s Food Cart. 56th near 7th Avenue, Midtown. Yes you read that right, a good burger from a street cart. Usually a line during weekday lunch hours. Fresh made burgers for $4. Many other meals too like steaks, grilled chicken, sausages, and hot dogs. Perfect for a nice day when you want to eat outside and enjoy the weather.
Island Burgers and Shakes. 766 9th Avenue, between 51st & 52nd Streets. The name says what they do best, burgers and shakes. This is the burger joint that does to burgers, what Crif Dogs does to hotdogs. Island Burgers and Shakes has to have the largest burger menu in New York City. Unique toppings include sour cream, chives, ranch dressing, curry, peanut sauce, thai sauce, and more.
