NYC’s 10 Best Burgers – Upper West Side Restaurants Page 1
A good burger means fresh, never frozen meat and good quality ingredients. Unless you are in a mad rush, eating a fast food burger in NYC is the worst option. New York City offers some of the best burgers in the US and they cost about the same or only a few dollars more than typical fast restaurant food. NYC’s Upper West Side list of best burger:
The Sunburnt Calf. 226 W 79th Street, between Amsterdam Avenue & Broadway. I first came to Sunburnt Calf when I saw a half price special out front for their burger. Well the burger they call the Burger with the Lot was a bacon cheeseburger with pineapple, beets, lettuce, tomato, and onion. Definitely the oddest combination of ingredients I ever ordered on a burger but it was surprisingly tasty. Also have a good all-you-can drink brunch on Saturday and Sunday.
Big Nick’s Burger & Pizza Joint. 2175 Broadway, between 76th Street & 77th Street.
Big Nick’s Burger & Pizza Joint Too. 70 W 71st Street, between W Central Park & Columbus Avenue.
Huge burger list. I have even ordered mine on pretzel bun at Big Nick’s. Both eating areas are small with no frills. One of the few NY pizza shops where they make their own thicker pies with tons of cheese instead of the typical thin crust New York style pizza. Burgers are inexpensive and make quickly.
Jackson Hole. 517 Columbus Avenue and 85th Street. A good, simple watering hole known for their juicy 7-ounce hamburgers. Perfect neighborhood weekday/happy hour spot. Throw a few brews down and order from their large menu (over 20 beef burgers) or if you are anti-beef their large turkey and veggie burger menu. A favorite menu item here is their peanut butter shake and chili cheese fries.
Amsterdam Ale House. 340 Amsterdam Avenue, between 76th & 77th Streets. Order your burger with their delicious sweet potato fries, topped with sugar and cinnamon. Half pound burgers for around $10 and served on an English muffin.
