The Counter. 7 Times Square, Times Square, Manhattan. Specials this month with new grilled cheese sandwich selections each week. April’s weekly grilled cheese sandwich specials:
- April 2 to 8: The Western. Tillamook Cheddar, American, Black Forest Ham, Fried Onion Strings, Sweet BBQ Sauce
- April 9 to 15: The Kicker. Jalapeno Jack, Tillamook Cheddar, Fresh Jalapenos, Tomatoes, Chipotle Aioli
- April 16 to 22: The Grilled Greek. Feta, Provolone, Cucumber, Olives, Spinach, Sundried Tomato Vinaigrette
- April 23 to 29: Red, White & Blue. Blue Cheese, Swiss, Spinach, Roasted Red Peppers, Basil Pesto
Eggstravaganza Cart. NE Corner of 52nd and Park Avenue. Best known for their breakfast, however Eggstravaganza makes a mean bacon and chorizo grilled cheese for lunch only $5 as well as a bangin’ steak and eggs taco for $4.
Little Muenster. 100 Stanton Street, LES. This gourmet grilled cheese shop features 8 types of grilled cheese sandwiches to choose from along with daily specials. My favorite grilled cheese contains gruyere, chevre (goat cheese), leek confit, and pancetta. Closed on Mondays.
Melt Shop. 601 Lexington Avenue, Midtown East. A popular lunch spot in midtown east for those who know about this tucked away outdoor restaurant on Lexington. If you like meat in your grilled cheese sandwiches, look no further than their signature black and blue with roast beef, blue cheese, caramelized onions, and horseradish mayonnaise on sourdough bread. Outdoor seating only.
The Queens Kickshaw. 40-17 Broadway, Astoria, Queens. When you combine high quality craft beer on draught, 8 artisan grilled cheese sandwiches on the menu, and gourmet coffees you have the perfect summer weekend lunch spot. No meat is served at this NYC restaurant.
