New York City’s 10 Best Steakhouses (continued):
5. STK. 26 Little West 12th Street between 9th Avenue and Washington Street. Sleek and stylish in the Meatpacking District–definitely not your daddy’s steakhouse. The best date-place on this list.
4. Peter Luger. 178 Broadway at Driggs Avenue, Brooklyn. Not much left to say about this place. Simply a New York classic. Cash only.
3. Del Frisco’s. 1221 Sixth Avenue at 49th Street. Best choice for steak in midtown, especially for those staying in nearby hotels. More of a middle-of-the-week business dinner place than a weekend place. Soaring dining room and beautiful bar.
2. Wolfgang’s. 409 Greenwich Street at Hubert Street. Every bit as good as Peter Luger, but much easier to get a table on a weekend. Big, warm dining room is great for large groups.
1. Sparks. 210 E. 46th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues. Famous as the place where Mafia boss Paul Castellano was assassinated in 1985 (out front by the curb). Filet mignon (medium rare, of course) and the Caesar salad are standouts here.
