Thursday, October 7

10:00 am to 5:00 pm:  Randalls Island Golf Center Fall Festival1 Randalls Is located within Randall’s Island Park.  From October 7th to October 11th.  Celebrate fall with hayrides, a pumpkin patch, pony rides, puppet shows, haunted mini golf, carnival games, and more.  Food concessions serve standard fair food.  Tickets $9 per person.

6:00 pm: New York City Wine & Food FestivalLocation varies according to event.  Oct 7th to October 10th.  One of the few culinary events to attract the areas top chefs.  Meet cooking icons Rocco DiSpirito, Sunny Anderson, Sandra Lee, Andrew Zimmern, Adam Richman, Alton Brown, Martha Stewart, Ted Allen, Paula Deen, Bobby Flay, Masaharu Morimoto, and others.  Culinary demos, panels, wine seminars, dinners, and other events.  All proceeds go to Food Bank for New York City.  Go to nycwineandfoodfestival.com for tickets, event listings, and locations.  Tickets to each event range from $18 to $500.

8:30 pm: Roy Nathanson and Sotto Voce performing Subway MoonDavid Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center, 61 West 62nd Street.  Saxophonist Ray Nathanson of the Jazz Passangers performs with trombone, violin, bassist, human beatbox, vocalists, and a videographer in poetry and song.  Free event.

Friday, October 8

11:00 am  to 6:00 pm: Christopher Columbus Block PartyMurray Street from Broadway to Church Street.  Street fair.  Free event.

1:00 pm to 7:00 pm: New York Comic ConJacob K. Javits Convention Center, 11th Avenue between 35th Street & 36th Street.  October 8th to October 10th.  The biggest event of its kind on the East Coast.  Show floor with the latest in comics, anime, graphic novels, toys, video games, movies, and television.  Also fans get a chance for autograph sessions, panels, and screening rooms.  Day tickets start at $40 and weekend passes are $65.

3:00 pm to 9:00 pm: Park Avenue Armory Carnival643 Park Avenue, between 66th Street & 67th Street.  Four day event from October 8th to October 11th.  A 5o-foot ferris wheel and performances from the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus.  Performers range from stage shows, pantomime, juggling, balloon sculptures, concessions, daredevils, magicians, and contortionists.

7:00 pm to 9:00 pm: 8th Annual OpenhouseNY Weekend Launch PartyPenthouse at the Centurion, 33 West 56th Street.  The start of the weekend long event where you explore new neighborhoods and learn about NYC’s architecture from all 5 boroughs with talks, workshops, tours, and performances.  Free event.
