9:00 am to 5:00 pm: The Harlem Harvest Festival. The block of St. Nicholas between 116th and 117th Streets, including A. Philip Randolph Park. Fresh vegetables and produce from local New York farms, 25 of Harlem’s top chefs, and a Children’s Pavilion with pumpkin patch, face painting, food trivia, and apple bobbing. Live performances on stage from 9:45 am to 4:00 pm. Sign up online at harlemharvestfestival.org to register for The Fresh Food Summit to meet and discuss food with Harlem’s culinary leaders and residents. Free event.
10:00 am to 6:00 pm: Avenue of The Americas Family Expo. On 6th Avenue from 42nd Street to 56th Street, Manhattan. 500 vendors of various international foods, arts, crafts, entertainment, and more.
10:00 am to 7:00 pm: New York Comic Con. Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, 11th Avenue between 35th Street & 36th Street. October 8th to October 10th. The biggest event of its kind on the East Coast. Show floor with the latest in comics, anime, graphic novels, toys, video games, movies, and television. Also fans get a chance for autograph sessions, panels, and screening rooms. Day tickets start at $40 and weekend passes are $65.
11:00 am to 7:00 pm: Park Avenue Armory Carnival. 643 Park Avenue, between 66th Street & 67th Street. Four day event from October 8th to October 11th. A 5o-foot ferris wheel and performances from the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus. Performers range from stage shows, pantomime, juggling, balloon sculptures, concessions, daredevils, magicians, and contortionists. Tickets $5.
12:00 pm: Chuseok Festival – The Korean Harvest and Folk Festival. Randall’s Island Park, Manhattan. At the festival enjoy a singing contest, singing performances, Korean cuisine, a real Korean wedding, wrestling competition, drawing contest, Korean martial arts, dance performances, and other cultural events. Free event.
12:00 pm to 5:00 pm: Oktoberfest at Governor’s Island. Governor’s Island, Manhattan. Last year over 3,000 people attended in this NY beer drinking fesitval on the water. New York and German beers available. Food vendors serve all types of food including traditional German eats. Free event.
7:00 pm, doors open 6:00 pm: Free Screening of American Masters:LENNONYC. Central Park Summer Stage, Rumsey Playfield, East side Central Park (use 72nd Street entrance). A film documentary honoring John Lennon’s life in New York City and 70th birthday. Food and drink welcome. Free event.
