5. Sarabeth’s East. 1295 Madison Ave; Upper East Side. With a soft touch of lemon, try the Lemon and Ricotta Pancakes with Fresh Berries.  Prices are slightly higher, but you won’t find these soft and delicious pancakes anywhere else.

4. Norma’s at Le Parker Meridien. 118 W 57th Street; Theater District. Yes, Norma’s is located inside a hotel, but perhaps they have the best blueberry pancakes in NYC.  This is not a pancake with a couple blueberries sprinkled around; Norma’s blueberry pancakes come with plenty of blueberries.  Other pancake choices include hot chestnut and buttermilk.  Pick wisely as the prices are high and you don’t want to be disappointed.  Also, do not forget your fresh squeezed OJ and fresh pressed coffee.

3. Public. 210 Elizabeth Street; Nolita. Open only for brunch on the weekend, this up scale dinner restaurant has beautiful presentation and delicious food.  Try their coconut pancakes with fresh ricotta, mango salad and ginger lime syrup.  It may sound odd, but it’s divine if you want something sweet. This weekend brunch location is popular, so expect to wait up to 20 minutes for your table.

2. Clinton Street Baking Company4 Clinton Street; Lower East Side. This LES breakfast restaurant has received raves and awards for their pancakes.  Try the chocolate and blood orange pancakes with candied orange glaze and maple butter or  poached pears with vanilla bean whipped cream.  Note: February is pancake month!

1. Prune. 54 E 1st Street; East Village. The high prices are worth savoring these dutch style pancakes made individually in a cast iron pan.  The pancakes are large and fluffy served with Canadian bacon, sour cream and powdered sugar.  Whether you have them with pears, blueberries, plain or anything else, you will be pleased.
