For the purpose of this article a fast food restaurant chain is a restaurant with multiple locations in New York City where you can get a quick, cheap meal.
10 Best Fast Food Restaurant Chains in NYC (10 to 6)
10. Popeye’s Famous Fried Chicken. Several locations in lower Manhattan and Brooklyn, NYC. Popeye’s makes solid fried chicken with good Cajun spices that is inexpensive. Good buttermilk biscuits and sides, my favorite being the coleslaw. Sells fried chicken on the bone, boneless tenders, and nuggets. Not the best choice of meals for the health conscious but a good treat every once in a while. See: New York City’s 10 Best Southern, Soul Food, and Cajun Restaurants
9. Famous Original Ray’s Pizza. Several locations in Manhattan including 1827 2nd Avenue, 736 7th Avenue 49th Street, 831 7th Avenue 54th Street, 250 E Houston Street between avenue A & B, 195 E Houston Street between Orchard & Ludlow Street, 462 Columbus Avenue 82nd Street, 1710 Broadway 55th street, and 204 9th Avenue. Famous Original Ray’s Pizza is not the best pizza in NYC but they make a good NY slice and are conveniently located throughout the city. Come in for a quick slice of their many varieties of NYC style pizza or if you have a few extra minutes order their meatball parmigiana. See: NYC’s 10 Best Pizza Restaurants
8. Atomic Wings. 9 locations in New York City. The main reason Atomic Wings made the list is because they are convenient with locations all over Manhattan. They also have a consistent taste from location to location. Their boneless chicken fingers are awful and not worth ordering so stick to the wings. If you like some spice in your life they have four levels of hot, suicidal being their hottest wing sauce. See: NYC’s 10 Best Buffalo Wings & Chicken Wings
7. Chipotle. Located all over Manhattan and even a location in Brooklyn. Another quick Mexican food restaurant specializing in giant flour tortilla burritos. The burritos can be huge so bring your appetite. Designed similar to Subway sandwiches where they make your burrito in front of you at the counter while you tell them what ingredients to add. I always order their barbacoa, a braised beef, and add marinated vegetables. Other choices include carnitas (pork), grilled chicken, or steak. You can choose to add rice, beans, several salsas, cheese, lettuce, sour cream, or guacamole. See: 10 Best Mexican Restaurants in New York City
6. Gray’s Papaya. 402 Avenue of the Americas, West Village & 2090 Broadway, Upper West Side. No chairs here, Gray’s Papaya keeps it simple with cheap hotdogs fast and is open 24 hours. Get the recession special for under 5 dollars which includes two all beef hot dogs and a drink. Drinks include papaya, pina colada, banana daiquiri, mango, coconut champagne, orange juice, and strawberry. See: New York City’s 10 Best Hot Dogs
