5. Baked. 359 Van Brunt Street, Brooklyn. This bakery in Brooklyn has a great Sweet and Salty cupcake, a chocolate cake with a salty chocolate caramel ganache. I love this sweet and salty mix!
4. Two Little Red Hens. 1652 Second Avenue, Upper East Side. Best banana cupcake and red velvet cupcakes in town. Chocolate lovers try the Brooklyn Blackout.
3. Crumbs. Several locations throughout Manhattan. The cupcakes here are huge. Make room for their famous Howard Stern Baba Booey chocolate cupcake filled with peanut butter cream cheese and sprinkled with peanut butter!
2. Sugar Sweet Sunshine Bakery. 126 Rivington Street, Lower East Side. Great spot if you don’t want to overindulge in giant cupcakes. Best cupcake shop in lower Manhattan and my personal favorite. Get the black and white cupcake here. Only $1.50 each.
1. Magnolia. Three locations: Rockefeller Center, Midtown; 401 Bleecker Street, West Village; 200 Columbus Avenue, Upper West Side. This is a popular spot and the wait is long, so try to go when it’s not packed! The cakes are moist and the icing is not too sweet, it’s perfect!
