“ ‘Once’ picks up four Drama Desk awards
Acclaimed Broadway production “Once” snagged top honors at this year’s Drama Desk Awards.
The romantic 2006 film-turned-Broadway musical – about the relationship between an Irish musician and his Czech immigrant muse – scored four awards at the New York City ceremony Sunday night, according to USA Today.
The statues were for best musical, best director, lyrics (for singer-songwriters Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova) and best orchestrations.
The surprise hit is also up for 11 Tony Awards.
