New York City’s Best Running Events and Races in 2010

Start running in 2010 to stay healthy.  Each of these NYC running events are held annually and are the best running events New York City has to offer.

10.  Emerald Nuts Midnight Run. Central Park.  December 31, 2010.  Run 4 miles on New Year’s Eve an celebrate the end of your race with a New Year’s celebration.

9.  Race For the KidsRiverside Park at 72nd Street.  September 25, 2010.  A charity raising 4K race held by Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City.  Visit www.raceforthekids.org for event info.

8.  Empire State Building Run Up350 5th Avenue, Midtown.  100 runners from around the world are selected to climb 86 flights of stairs to the observatory deck.  The fastest time since the event started was in 2003 by Paul Crake with a blazing time of 9:33.  While this annual event has already passed in 2010 lookout for it in early February 2011.  Write to: Empire State Building Run-up Application Request, New York Road Runners Club, 9, E 89th St, New York 10128 to request an application to participate this event.

7.  13.1 Marathon New YorkFlushing Meadows Corona Park, Queens.  April 3, 2010.  One of the fastest growing races in the country with half marathon events in several cities across the US.  This NYC race takes place at Flushing Meadows Corona Park, the historic site of the 1939 and 1964 World’s Fair.  When registering make an extra donation to help communities in Africa.  Visit www.131marathon.com

6.  9th Annual Miles For MomsCentral Park.  May 15, 2010 (date subject to change).  Raise money for the fight against cancer by walking or running 4 miles.  This race was originally dedicated to a mother named Celia Rosenberg who lost her battle with the disease.  Come out and show your support.  Go to www.milesformoms.org for more.
