Best Events To See On July 4th – New York City 2009
4. New York Water Taxi Fireworks Cruise. Pier 17 at South Street Seaport; 6:30-10 p.m. For tickets call 212-742-1969. Watch the fireworks in from a unique location on a boat.
3. Opening of the Crown, Statue of Liberty. Be one of the first to walk to the newly reopened crown of the Statue of Liberty. If you cannot take long lines and huge crowds come another day.
2. Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks in New York City. Best viewed on the west of Manhattan between 23rd and 59th street. This is supposed to be the longest running fireworks show in NYC history. Arrive early, around 7pm to get the best spot.
1. Nathan’s 4th of July Hotdog Eating Contest. Begins 10:30am, Coney Island. Watch the world eating champions stuff their faces with franks at the Super Bowl of Hot Dog eating events.
