10 Things To Do in NYC on New Years Day (1 to 5)
5. Guggenheim. 1071 5th Avenue. Exploring the Guggenheim is a great event on New Year’s Day. Open 11 am – 6 pm.
4. Ice Skating. Wollman Rink in Central Park, The Pond at Bryant Park, Rockefeller Center Ice Skating Rink and more. If you haven’t had a chance to go ice skating this season, today is a great day to do it.
3. Central Park. Take a stroll and start off the new year’s in the park! Take your time and explore 843 acres of this phenomenal urban park. Stop by the 1870 central park carousel at mid-park at 64th street; it will be open til 4:30 pm. The Central Park Zoo is also open til 4:30 pm.
2. Polar Bear Club on Coney Island. Watch the Polar Bear Club take a dip in the freezing ocean at 1 pm sharp. If you’re really up for an adventure, jump in with them!
1. Museum of Modern Art. 1 West 53rd Street. Enjoy New Year’s Day screening of Tim Burton’s Planet of the Apes and the 1932 classic Murders in the Rue Morgue. Check out the Pablo Picasso lecture at 1:30 pm. The museum is open from 9:30 am to 8 pm. Adult admission is $20.
