I’ve spent many New Year’s days wondering what to do. Yes, many places are closed, but here are some great ideas on how to start off the new year in New York City.
10 Things To Do in NYC on New Years Day (6 to 10)
10. New York Botanical Garden. 200th Street and Kazimiroff Boulevard. Take a 20 minute ride from Grand Central station to the Bronx and explore the beauty of the botanical gardens. Open from 10 am to 7 pm. Tickets begin at $6.
9. New York Aquarium. Surf Avenue & West 8th Street. Go to Brooklyn and take a look at the jelly fish, black-footed penguin or see The Polar Express in 4-D. General admission tickets are only $13. Open 10 am – 4:30 pm.
8. Brooklyn Bridge. Spend the day to walk one of the nation’s oldest suspension bridges, Brooklyn Bridge and enjoy the skyline of the city. The entrance to this 1883 bridge is near City Hall, from Park Row and Centre Street.
7. See a Movie. New Year’s day is a great day to escape, relax and watch movies. Want to try a new theater in the city? See: NYC’s Best Movie Theaters
6. Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. New Year’s Day is a great day to take the ferry down to Ellis Island and see the Statue of Liberty for free. The ferry leaves every hour from Battery Park and tickets are only $12 for adults and $5 for children.
