10 Best Movie Theaters in New York City (continued):
5. Ziegfeld Theatre. 141 W 54th Street, 212-307-1862. This is an old-style, broadway-esque theater with only one screen. See how it was done in the movie theaters of the 1920s.
4. Film Forum. 209 W. Houston St., between Sixth and Seventh Avenue, 212-727-8110. My favorite movie theater in New York City hands down. Sure it is small, cramped, and might have a sticky floor but they have a good concession stand and show the best American movie classics along with unique independent films not shown at other NYC theaters.
3. Regal Union Square Stadium. 14850 Broadway, between 13th and 14th Street, 212-253-6266. This theater has saved me from getting soaked during many walk homes in the rain. Aside from the convenient location, the movie selection isn’t bad either. Come early, theaters are almost always crowded. See: 10 Best Rainy Day Ideas in NYC
2. AMC Loews Lincoln Square 13 with IMAX Theater. 1998 Broadway, at 68th Street, 212-336-5020. The only movie theater to watch IMAX blockbuster movies in NYC. My favorite and the most comfortable theater for mainstream movies.
1. AMC Empire 25. 234 West 42nd Street, between Seventh and Eighth Avenue, 212-398-3939. This place is huge and you guessed it, has 25 theaters. Big guys will love this place, you have plenty of leg room and stadium seating. Be prepared to deal with large crowds of tourists just outside in Times Square.
