9:30 AM to 5:30 PM – Met Holiday Mondays at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. 1000 Fifth Avenue from 80th to 84th Streets, Upper East Side. One of the world’s largest art museums with over 2 million pieces in their collection from ancient times until present day. Recommended $20 donation for entrance.
11:00 AM – West Indian American Day Carnival & Parade. Utica Avenue to Grand Army Plaza along Eastern Parkway, Brooklyn. New York City’s largest cultural festival and parade with 2 million in attendance. Enjoy live entertainment and food from Caribbean-America.
11:00 AM to 6:00 PM – M.E.C.A. Family Festival. On Lexington Avenue from 34th to 42nd Street. Street fair with over 400 arts and crafts booths, a music show, a fashion show, cooking demonstrations and more.
Tuesday, September 7th
7:00 PM to 8:00 PM – Live from SoHo: Sara Bareilles. Apple Store – SoHo, 103 Prince Street. Good piano-pop rock artist, Sara Bareilles promotes her second album with a free one hour performance.
Wednesday, September 8th
6:00 PM to 7:30 PM – Volleyball After Work. Esplanade Plaza at Battery Park, south of North Cove. Each Wednesday until September 29th. Get your exercise in after work with your friends.
7:00 PM – The Funky Fritters. Waterside Plaza, 30 Waterside Plaza, on the East River at 26th Street. New Orleans sounds in New York City from this great 11 member blues band.
Thursday, September 9th
The Opening of Fashion Week at Lincoln Center. On 62nd between Columbus and Amsterdam Avenue. Although the show requires tickets and is sold out, this event starts Fashion Week 2010 which continues until September 16th.
