10.  New York Botanical Gardens. Southern and Bedford Park Blvds. One of the nation’s most well known botanical gardens lies in the Bronx at over 250 acres.  Nearly one million visitors come annually to see exhibitions and flowers shows from poetry to photography to orchid shows.  A nice mini-getaway from busy urban life.  Tickets are usually $20 for adults.

9.  Bronx Museum of Arts1040 Grand Concourse, Bronx.  To fully appreciate all the pieces in this museum you need a minimum of two hours.  The museum itself is quite large and the building itself is an architectural masterpiece.  Many exhibits are connected to local artists and themes.  Houses a mix of contemporary and historical art collections.

8.  Arthur AvenueBronx.  “The Real Little Italy”.  Many New Yorkers form a blank stare when you talk about Arthur Avenue, a well kept secret Italian community in New York City.  Arthur Avenue, the heart of Bronx’s Little Italy is also known as the Belmont area.  Best in New York City for Italian pastas, breads, meats, pastries, espressos, Italian sausages, and so much more.  Come eat at one of the many authentic home cooked Italian restaurants on Arthur Avenue before a ball game at Yankee Stadium or going to the Bronx Zoo.  Eating on Arthur Avenue is one of the best New York City dining experiences for the price.  Highly recommended.

7. Fordham University. 441 East Fordham Road. This university was founded in 1841, which consists of three campuses: the Bronx campus, known as Rose Hill, is the main campus of the university, the Lincoln Center campus in Manhattan and Westchester campus in West Harrison.  Fordham University, a historic, private, Catholic school, has 6 graduate schools and alumni including Denzel Washington and President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

6. Wave Hill. 675 W. 252nd Street. A beautiful 28 acre estate looking over the Hudson River and New Jersey Palisades is open to the public.  Wave Hill, the former estate of George W. Perkins, includes an 1843 historic house, gardens, art exhibits and concerts.  Admission only $8.
