6. Coney Island Mermaid Parade. A summer must-see parade at Coney Island. Ride the Cyclone and eat at Nathan’s. The parade is held every year, on the first Saturday of the summer. This crazy, large, FUN art parade includes floats and the best mermaid costumes.
7. Brooklyn Pizza. Many say it’s different and many say it’s the best. Try Grimaldi’s, located in the DUMBO area (19 Old Fulton Street). It has been voted hands down the best pizza.
8. New York Aquarium. 602 Surf Avenue, Coney Island. Home to 10,000 creatures including sharks, sea turtles, jellyfish, sea otters, and walruses. One of the best aquariums in the nation.
9. Atlantic Avenue. Shopping on Atlantic Avenue includes specialty food markets, antique stores, independent boutiques, and the Atlantic Center shopping mall.
10. DUMBO. Located between Manhattan Bridge and the Brooklyn Bridge. DUMBO, an acronym that stands for “Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass.” This growing community is filled with art galleries, exhibits and plenty of art events.
