April Fool’s Day
National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day
Celebrate with a gooey grilled cheese sandwich from one of NYC’s best diners or one of the New York City Restaurants listed in the articles below. One of the most common of NYC’s best sandwiches, grilled cheese sandwiches along with a bowl of tomato soup are a standard in American comfort food.
Grilled cheese sandwiches originated with simplifying of the french croque monsieur.
The traditional grilled cheese sanwich is made with American sliced white bread and cheese but most NYC restaurants serve more upscale grilled cheese sandwiches with different types of breads and cheeses with additional ingredients.

National Eggs Benedict Day
The rumor goes eggs benedict began when a patron of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel Restaurant in Manhattan orders toast with bacon, a poached egg, and hollandaise sauce for breakfast to cure a hanger. The chef was so impressed by the taste of the eggs benedict dish he added it to the menu.
Whether or not this story is true, eggs benedict is a classic breakfast and brunch menu item in New York City.
Today eggs benedict is made with and English muffin, canadian bacon, poached egg, and hollandaise sauce.
