Skyscraper Day
Sep 3 – Sep 4 all-day

Celebrate the tallest buildings in New York City.  Giant structures designed by brilliant minds in engineering and architecture.  When you think about how much man power, materials, and innovation required to build a NYC skyscraper look at them as as a monumentous achievement in art and science. From the tallest, One World Trader Center more commonly known as Freedom Tower to other notables NYC skycrapers from my personal favorite, the Chrysler Building, 30 Rock, Trump Towers, and more.

To see NYC from the highest points visit the Empire State Building Observation Deck at the top or Top of the Rock at Rockefeller Center, AKA 30 Rock.  Take a ride like no other…NY SKYRIDE in the Empire State Building

Holidays in New York City – National POW/MIA Recognition Day
Sep 21 all-day

National POW/MIA Recognition Day

On POW/MIA Recognition Day we commemorate those soldiers who where prisoners of war and missing in action.  After Vietnam, the holiday gained momentum as many people believed captured US soldiers were never released from Vietnamese prison at the conclusion of the conflict.

Today we pay respect to and honor all brave US soldiers from all conflicts who were imprisoned by the enemy or never found during battle.

Today we celebrate one of my all-time favorite foods, the Mexican taco.

My favorite tacos are Tijuana style street tacos made with slices of carne asada, thin steak, pork or steak on small, soft tortillas.

Visit one of NYC’s many Mexican restaurants to enjoy their tasty tacos.

National Vodka Day

While the origin of vodka is debated, most scholars believe it was invented in the 8th century in Poland.  Vodka is typically distilled from potatoes or grain and is 80 proof (40% alcohol) or more.  Enjoy your favorite vodka drink at one of NYC’s finest bars and restaurants.
